Our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, James Calvin Sly returned home to his Heavenly Father on June 15th, 2023. James was born to Thomas Dee and Eunice Rosezina Puffer Sly on September 26, 1933 in Milford, Utah.
James married Carma Patterson March 9th, 1953, in Beaver, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on February 10th, 1966.
James served in the US Army for two years, after which they moved to Springville, Utah in 1955. They lived there until he retired. James worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a conductor for over 40 years. Within that time, he also owned his own Gas Station. When James retired, they moved back to Beaver, Utah.
James was always working on cars for his children and grandchildren. He always loved working with his hands and keeping busy. James spent time working on and building cars for his sons for racing at the Santana Raceway. He always enjoyed seeing his children succeed in what they did.
After retiring, James and Carma enjoyed traveling in their fifth wheel and traveled across the United States. They loved to travel to Illinois to see their daughter and grandchildren when they could. They spent several of their winters in Overton, Nevada and the summers either traveling or in Beaver, Utah.
James was a volunteer at the Beaver Hospital and was the Director of the Senior Center for over 20 years. He served the church and God in many aspects over the years and loved all that he did.
