In Bond Head, on 6 June 1877, Allen Nixon married Zannie (Eliza Alexina) Coburn, daughter of Samuel Coburn and Ann Elizabeth Cross. They had four sons: John (b. 1878), Samuel (b. 1879); Herbert (b. 1881/82), and Charles (b. 1884/5). By the 1891 census of Tecumseth, Allen was a widower. From Allen's obituary (The Northern Advance, 6 July 1922, page 7) his wife had pre-deceased him by 36 years.
