WINDSOR MAN IS FOUND DEAD

Stroke Of Apoplexy Fatal To John T. Stump, In His 80th Year

Windsor, January 8 – Having died from a stroke of apoplexy between 7:30 and 8:30 o’clock this morning, John T. Stump was found at 4:30 o’clock this afternoon in a small building on the property of his son, Pansy E. Stump, this place. Coroner L. U. Zech issued the death certificate, giving a cerebral hemorrhage as the cause of death. The man was aged 79 years, six months and 20 days.
Mr. Stump resided in the building in which he was found. Early this morning he told his son that he was going to York. With this in mind the members of the family went about their tasks during the day. However, when the son passed the building in which his father lived he noticed his cane lying on the ground, which he used in recent years to aid in walking. Thinking it was strange that his father should go anywhere without the cane, the son went into the building to investigate. He found his father lying on the kitchen floor, partly against the stove.
Dr. G. N. Yagle, Red Lion, was summoned, who immediately notified the coroner. Coroner Zech found a superficial wound on the back of his head, which, he believes, the man suffered when his head struck the stove.
Formerly a resident of Dallastown, Mr. Stump had resided with his son the past four years. His wife, Susan Markel Stump, died in 1918.
Surviving are five sons, Pansy E. Stump, this place; George W. Stump, Red Lion RD 1; Calvin S. and John A. Stump, Dallastown, and Harry S. Stump, Palmyra; four daughters, Mrs. Fred Brauer, Philadelphia; Miss Lillie Stump and Mrs. William Bupp, York, and Mrs. Luther Herbst, Mt. Wolf; 27 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Wesley Stump, Glen Rock.
Funeral Directors Earl B. Burg and Son, Red Lion, removed the body to their establishment to prepare it for burial. The funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. at the Burg Funeral Parlor. Interment will be made in Shaffer’s Cemetery, near Hanover Junction.
