The fourth of seven children, Carol was born three months pre-mature and weighed only 2 pounds. Her first crib was a shoebox kept warm by an incubator made by her father because the only two available from the hospital were being used at the time.

Seated at the back of the class Carol struggled in school at an early age. A teacher suggested to her parents they should have her eyes checked. On the way home from being fitted with her first pair of glasses, Carol's realization that the fuzzy green shape at the top of trees were made up of a myriad of individual leaves. Her mother cried not knowing up until then just how poor little Carol's eyesight was. Born a Pre-Me Carol was not expected to live very long but Carol was a survivor.

She traveled to California with sisters Helen and Jane where she met a young sailor named Al, Albert F. Deines in San Diego, California. They were married in Long Beach, California on September 25th, 1955. They were married for 55 years until Albert preceded her in death in 2011.

Also preceded in death by her mother and father, brothers Bill and Jim, sisters Helen and Jane, brother-in-law Ken Nelson, brother-in-law Michael Morris.

Carol is survived by; daughter Theresa "Teri" Deines, sons David (Silva) Deines and Steven Deines, brother John, sister Mary Ellen, many nieces & nephews and her beloved granddaughter Astrida Marie Deines White.

Carol was a good-natured soul who loved to laugh and had a smile that would light up a room. Always looking at the bright side of life she would say, "This too shall pass" when presented with a life challenge or difficult situation. Another of her favorite sayings was, "I'll do my best with what I've got" as she aged and everyday tasks weren't as easy as they used to be, that saying changed slightly into "I'll do my best with what I've got left". An example of her unending sense of humor.

Caroline loved her family, the church, and her Lord. She was truly an angel on Earth and is now an angel in Heaven.

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
