He was the husband of Frances S. (Winn) Drown Hosmer and a son of the late Fred and Gertrude (Preston) Hosmer. He attended schools in Massachusetts, graduating from Littleton High School.

He served as a staff sergeant in the Army during World War II and also with the Air Force during the Korean War.

He began his career training horses (jumpers) for the late Mrs. Gilbert Stewart in Topsfield, Mass. He then worked in quality assurance for Hitchner Manufacturing Company in Milford, N.H. and later in facilities and maintenance for Beaver Brook Association and its founder, H.P. Nichols of Hollis, for many years.

He was a resident of Wilsonville for the past three years and had previously lived in Hollis, N.H. for many years. He held membership in the American Legion.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two stepdaughters and their husbands, Carol and Gayle Post of Wilsonville and N. Jeanne and Jeffrey Isaacs of Irvine, Calif; two stepgrandchildren, Audrey and Jonathan; two nieces, Dianne and Julia; as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews. He was also the brother of the late Augustus Hosmer of Ayer, Mass. and Fred Hosmer of Littleton; and Virginia Lawrence of Groton.
