Billy H. Anderson, age 94, Springfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Mercy Hospital.
Bill was born March 7, 1929 in Antlers, Oklahoma, and is preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Stella Anderson. Bill met Betty, when he was 21 and she was 16 and they married May 15, 1950. They were married almost 58 years when Betty passed away.
During their first year of marriage, Bill served in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Korea until 1953. He was wounded in war and received the Purple Heart Medal of Honor.
Bill loved his family and spending time fishing, coaching his sons' baseball teams and had a love for all sports…especially the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a Cardinals Fan in the good and the bad.
He worked in the propane gas business and retired at EmpireGas of Fair Grove, Missouri. After retirement, he and Betty spent time fishing, traveling and volunteering hours and hours helping the children and their families with Muscular Dystrophy Association.
In addition to his parents; siblings. and his wife; he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jessica Oetting.
Survivors include his son, Steve Anderson and wife, Christie; son, David Anderson and wife, Carol; daughter, Nancy Hutson and husband, Scott; along with a special adopted son, Alan Oetting; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and brother, Bobby Anderson and wife, Evelyn.
Burial Tuesday, June 13, at Greenlawn Cemetery.
