James A. Priddy was born in Lake Placedo, TX to Joe Priddy and Lottie Dorris Priddy on September 27, 1942. He moved to Port Lavaca, TX a few years later with his family. At the age of 13 he relocated with his family to Blanton, MS. They cleared this land and started farming soybeans and catfish.

He married the love of his life Barbara Ann McFate Priddy in 1963. In 1965, he welcomed his daughter, Kimberly and in 1970 his son Greg. He built a home on the farm and lived there until the floods of 1972-1973. The continual flooding on the farm caused him to build a home in Cary, MS. In 1977 Priddy & Sons Custom Harvesting was born. James did this for about the next 8 years. At this time, he took a short break from harvesting and did various jobs around his home. He then resumed custom harvesting and continued this for the next 12 years. In 2011, James and his wife, Barbara, decided to retire and move to Laurel, MS where they resided with their daughter, Kimberly until his death on June 10, 2023.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lottie Priddy; his siblings, Joseph Priddy, David Priddy, Francis Priddy and Ola Bell Hengst.

He left behind his wife of 59 years, Barbara Priddy; two children, Kimberly Dearman (Kevin) and Greg Priddy; grandchildren, Liz Ellzey (Kevin), Alaura Culpepper (Zach), Chance Priddy (Sidney) and Aiden Priddy; great- grandchildren, Olivia Ellzey, Caden Priddy, Addison and Randi Kate Culpepper.

He will be missed by many people that call him family and those he called family as well. He was a God-fearing man who lived his church and his family. May he rest in peace!

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Glade Baptist Church on 72 Triangle Dr. Laurel, Mississippi. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM. The burial will then take place in Cary Cemetery in Cary, Mississippi. Bro. Bob Taylor will officiate.
