It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share with you that Chester Lee Abshire passed away on June 1, 2023. Chester was born in Morse, LA on November 1, 1933, to Otis Abshire & Mable (Benoit) Abshire.
Chester worked as a Pipefitter in the Petroleum Industry. H
e served our Country honorably in the United States Navy.
He loved Cajun music, fishing, sports, and spending time with family and friends. Chester was a member of the Knights of Columbus, French Music Association and Lions Club. He was a kind and generous man who was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Chester is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Myers of Houston, TX; his sister, Shirley Thibodeaux; his grandchildren, Meagan Pickney, Cynamon Simon, Michael Dorean Myers, Marshall Simon, Jr.; his great grandchildren, Jonah Lee Williams, Journey Hernandez.
Chester was preceded in death by his parents, Otis & Mable Abshire; his beloved wife, Joyce Ann (Guillory) Abshire.
A Celebration of Chester 's life will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 1:00 PM. Chester will be laid to rest next to his loving wife Joyce in the Hanks Cemetery.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA beginning on Saturday, June 10, 2023, from 10:00 AM and continue until the time of his Service at 1:00 PM.
