Vergie Esther Fitzgerald passed away Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008.
Graveside service: 11 a.m. Wednesday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home.
She was born Nov. 24, 1910, near Peaster. In 1922, the family moved by covered wagon from Parker County to a cotton farm near Munday. It took three days to make the trip. In 1928, she met and married Robert "Bob" Fitzgerald. They grew and picked cotton until they left the farm and moved to Richland Hills in 1952.
Vergie worked as sales clerk for Myers Department Store in Hurst until she retired in 1982.
Vergie was preceded in death by her parents, Durham Lonzo and Lillie Belle Lain; her husband, Robert; five sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors: Sons, Jack and wife, Wanda, of Bedford and Bobby and wife, Frances, of Colleyville; grandson, Greg and wife, Debbie Fitzgerald, of Colleyville; granddaughters, Susie Fitzgerald and husband, Ford Butler, of Colleyville, Cindy and husband, James Brough, of Livermore, Calif., and Amy Fitzgerald of Toronto, Canada; and great-grandchildren, Emily and Scott Fitzgerald, Heather Marshall, Aaron Brough and Gracyn Butler.
