Obituary read: "Mrs. Effie Bowman, 79, wife of Elliott J. Bowman, died at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday in her home at Veedersburg. She had been in failing health two years and seriously since April 21 when she suffered, a hip fracture in a fall at her home. Born Feb. 25, 1879, near Wallace, Mrs. Bowman was the daughter of Joseph and Armilda Allen Banta. She married Mr. Bowman in 1897.
Surviving besides the husband are three daughters, Mrs. Alma Stump and Mrs. Thelma Smick, both of Hammond, and Mrs. Armilda Wilbur of Veedersburg; four sons, Bruce and Joe W. Bowman, both of Veedersburg, Allen Bowman of St. John, Ind., and David S. Bowman of Indianapolis; two brothers; Emory Banta of Covington and Bruce Banta of Rockville; 15 grandchildren, and 15 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded id death by a, son, Eugene. who died at the age of two years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Wolf Creek Baptist Church near Wallace,' of which Mrs. Bowman was a member. Burial will be at the Wolf Creek Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church one hour preceding the rites. Friends may call at the Fishero Funeral Home in Veedersburg after 4 p.m. Thursday."
