Mr. Banta was a trustee of Wolf Creek Church and Wolf Creek Cemetery.
He was born Dec. 13, 1883, in Howard Township, Parke County. He was a son of Joseph and Armilda Allen Banta.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas of Rockville and Rice of Marshall; two daughters, Mrs. A Paul (Wilma) Myers of Marshall and Mrs. Melvin (Mary) Hesler of near Rockville; a newphew who made his home with them, Hugh V. Banta of Rockville; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 pm Friday in Wolf Creek Church where the body will lie in state an hour prior to services. The Rev. James O. Trousdale will officiate. Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at Tudor-Herrick Memorial Chapel here after 3 pm Thursday."
