Funeral mass was held February 26 for John A. DeMars, 284 High Street, at St. Mary's Church. Mr. DeMars' body was found in the Passaic River February 20. A Nutley resident, he was 30. Born in Newark, Mr. DeMars was a commercial Loan Officer with Chemical Bank in New York. He was a graduate of Rutgers - Newark University and a veteran of Vietnam where he served as First Lieutenant in Army Intelligence. A past member and Grand Knight of Carmel Columbus #6195, he was also District Deputy of District 51 in the same organization. Mr. DeMars was also a member of Amvets Post 30 and Stuart E. Edgar #493 VFW of Nutley. He was also Secretary of the Essex County Knights of Columbus Federation. He is survived by his wife Elaine; two sons, John A. Jr. & Andrew W; his mother, Alice DeMars of Nutley, a sisters Mrs. Joan O'Connell of Nutley, and his grandmother, Mrs. Annabelle Post of Nutley. Services were handled by S.W. Brown and Son Funeral Home. Interment was in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Orange.
