Thomas Eugene "Gene" Wood, age 77, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at The Retreat Nursing Home.
Gene Wood was born on December 30, 1942 in Dahlonega, to the late Elbert Asbury Wood and Missie Tuggle Wood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Wood and sisters, Jane Haddock, Carol Wages and Ruth Pope.
Before retirement, Gene worked in the logging business for Allen Logging Company and George Hill Logging. He enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his daughters, Melissa (Brett) Phillips of Edgewater, Fla., Shonda (Todd) Johnston of Oak Hill, Fla. and Sharon (Ryan) Tomlinson of Edgewater, Fla.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Shupe of Milledgeville; brother, Leroy Wood of Shady Dale; and a number of nieces and nephews.
