Ralph Donald Kolb was born on December 23, 1924 in McGehee, AR to Luther Clyde Kolb and Julia Clark Kolb. He had 2 brothers, Harold and Darwin and 4 sisters, Alma Franklin, Pauline Moore, Mary Prior and Clyda Smith. Ralph preceded all of his siblings in death. He graduated from McGehee High School. He joined the Army Air Force on October 1, 1942 and trained in Clovis NM with the 343rd Bombardment Squadron (Heavy), 98th Bombardment Group (Heavy), 9th Air force which flew B25 Heavy Bombers. He reached the grade of S SGT and was KIA along with hundreds of other airmen on August 1, 1943 attacking the oil fields and refineries in Ploiesti Romania which was a low level bombing attack operation named "Tidal Wave".

Visitation will be held at 10:00am-10:45am Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee AR. A graveside service will follow at 11:00am with full Military Honors in a plot where his Father, Mother and sister Mary are interred in the McGehee Cemetery.
