He is the son of Benjamin Franklin Wofford and Sarah Jane (Furr) Wofford. He married Evia (sometimes shown as Evie) Young on February 20, 1895. His tombstone monument was erected by the Woodmen of America, EMB, Shannon Camp #62. It is inscribed with the Latin words, "Dum Tacet Clamat" which means "Though Silent He Speaks". Also inscribed are the words, "His last words were, I'm not afraid to die". The monument is nearly off its base and is badly in need of repair.
