Jami Lyn Wright, 26, died March 8, 2008, in a tragic car accident.
Jami was born September 8, 1981, to Johnny and Leslie Wright in Elko, Nev.
She attended Elko schools, graduating from Elko High School in 2000. While in high school, she participated in track and while a member of the Elko High School Band of Indians she participated in the Orange Bowl and Tournament of Roses parades.
After graduating from Elko High, she became an EMT, which was extremely surprising to her closest friends since she almost failed 8th-grade science when she all but refused to take the semester final involving a fetal pig dissection. She could not stand the sight of blood and thought they stunk, but she quickly overcame that fear.
She later started working for BLM as a wildland firefighter on a hand crew, a job she held during the summer months. She would have been stationed at the Carlin station this summer.
During the winter months she split her time between the Fire Science Academy, Lee Engine Company or doing ride alongs with the Elko Fire Department or running ambulance.
Her life's dream was to be a professional structure firefighter.
She is survived by her parents Johnny and Leslie Wright, nieces Tayliannah and Tameka Wright, grandmother Shirley Westlund and Annie Wright, all of Elko.
She was preceded in death by her aunt Linda Westlund and grandfathers Coston Wright and Eldon Westlund.
Funeral services are at 3 p.m. Friday, March 14, at Calvary Baptist Church in Elko.
