Cecil Leon Goings, 86, of Houston, Texas, passed away on May 25, 2023, in Harris County, Texas. He was born on February 13, 1937, in Shelbyville, Texas, to the late Linton Franklin Goings and Eula Belle (Campbell) Goings.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Rather Cemetery, Shelbyvillle, Texas, with Bro. Tim Perkins officiating.

Cecil was raised in Shelbyvillle. He graduated from Shelbyvillle High School. He played football while in high school. He proudly served his country with the United States Marines at the Marine Corps Auxillary Air Station (MCAAS) Mojave and Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) El Torro as part of station supporting forces for aircraft squadron advanced gunnery range operations and in other capacities. He had one son, Kirk G. whom he loved immensely. Cecil was an all-around outdoorsman. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, photography, and reloading. He loved East Texas. He enjoyed his family's property, fishing Toledo Bend and stock ponds, and visiting Center. Cecil loved spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Kirk Goings.

Cecil is preceded in death by his parents, L.F. "Tince" Goings and Eula Belle Goings.
