Anchorage resident Helen Marjorie Whitney, 83, died Nov. 2 at Our Lady Of Compassion Care Center. Her cremated remains were buried at Hawthorne Memorial Park in Mount Vernon, Wash.

Mrs. Whitney was born July 3, 1910, in San Francisco, and formerly lived in Fresno, Calif. From 1944 to 1964, she lived in Anchorage, then moved briefly to Santa Cruz, Calif. From 1964 to 1970, she lived in Concrete, Wash., and from 1970 to 1985, in Santa Cruz. After that, she briefly moved to Seattle. From 1985-86, she lived in Anchorage, then left the state. She returned to Anchorage later that same year. Mrs. Whitney was mainly a homemaker during her married life and enjoyed reading.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Zaber of Anchorage; brother, Rolland Patterson of Rancho Mirage, Calif.; four grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, and two brothers, Robert and Richard Patterson. Arrangements were handled by Witzleben Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Bragaw Chapel.
