Nancy Clark Burdett was the daughter of Thomas Clark (1753-1837) and Priscilla Doyle Tucker Clark (1750-1840), who were both buried on the plantation of their son, William Clark in Newton County, Georgia.
The following information is copied from "A GENEALOGY OF THE CLARK FAMILY", by Henry William Clark, 1905, Montgomery, Alabama.
"NANCY CLARK was born about 1784 in the state of North Carolina, received a common school education and married HENRY BURDETT, a smith by trade, of Laurens Dist., SC. They moved to Jasper County, GA, about 1820 and settled at a place called Mechanicsville, where they resided and where Mr. BURDETT conducted a successful smithy and provided well for his growing family. The religion of the family was Baptist and in politics Democratic. The children were educated in the neighboring schools and by precept and example were trained to habits of industry and economy; reared to useful and honorable lines. It was a happy family. They loved one another, loved their neighbors, loved their kindred and loved to be loved. In the fall of 1847, Mr. Burdett with his family moved to Washington County, Texas, where his wife died in 1864, and he some years prior to that date. Most of their descendants are in Texas."
