Joseph Flanders came from Cambria, Niagara Co., in 1833, and made his first attempt at farming in this new country in Charleston, on the land now owned by Mr. Stafford. From Charleston he removed to his present farm in 1844. Mr. Flanders is one of the old pioneer class who yet enjoy the fruits of labor bestowed on the land he reclaimed fiom a wilderness. He is one of our most intelligent farmers. His pleasant farm-home, his orchard of the best varieties of fruits, and his well-tilled fields evince the enterprising farmer. As the labors and cares of a busy life begin to tell on him, his son, Edwin P. Flanders, one of our sterling and best-informed young men, assumes command.
