Living in Swan Valley, Idaho, she graduated from high school in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Following graduation, she put herself through nursing school at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. As a registered nurse, Charlene started her nursing career in Soda Springs, Idaho.
She was introduced to Joe Olorenshaw by a nursing school mate who was a cousin of Joe. Within months, they married on December 15, 1960 in Jackson Hole, WY. They made their home in Soda Springs, Idaho. In October of 1961, their son Tim was born followed by daughters Charla-Jo and Gina Marie. Joe, Charlene, and their children enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, and traveling.
As a registered nurse, Charlene started working for the Caribou Memorial Hospital and then Bannock Regional Hospital. Later in her career, she worked as a home health nurse in Caribou, Bear Lake, and Bannock counties.
After her retirement, she and Joe loved to garden, work their small acreage, and traveled the western U.S., Canada, Alaska, and Western Europe.
Charlene enjoyed playing cards, reading, genealogy, quilting, and canning. She was also active with the Historical Society, Presbyterian Church, and Eastern Star.
Charlene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe, and a sister Lucille Hatfield. She is survived by her children Tim Olorenshaw, Ralston, WY; Charla-Jo Spradlin, Athol, ID; and Gina Peterson, Vernal, UT, 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, her sisters Ralene Powell, Chris Ragsdale, and Viola Harrison, and brothers Dan Harrison, Chuck Harrison, Royal Harrison, and Ed Harrison.
