Gail Adcock Sandlin, who was born January 20, 1934, to Cecil and Eleanor Anders Adcock, died May 24, 2023 at the age of 89. Gail was raised in Hartselle, Alabama and graduated from Hartselle High School in 1952. Upon graduation, she entered the University of Alabama, graduating with a degree in home economics in 1956. That same year, she married Edward "L" Sandlin of Falkville, Alabama. Ed and Gail had two sons and moved around north Alabama as Ed was named executive director of several chambers of commerce. Eventually, the Sandlins settled in Fayetteville, Tennessee, where Gail embarked on a productive public service career with several organizations.
In the 1980s, Gail returned to school and earned her graduate degree. Soon after, she was named executive director of CLEAN, an organization dedicated to environmental beautification. During this time, she joined Rotary International and was a member for several years. Gail retired from paid public service in 2004. The family spent over forty years in Fayetteville until Ed and Gail moved to Athens to be closer to family. Ed and Gail shared a loving marriage for nearly sixty-two years until Ed's passing in 2018.

Gail was also preceded in death by parents Cecil and Eleanor Adcock; sister Wreatha Adcock Dubose; brother Perry Adcock; and her son Jeff, who passed in 1978. Gail was an active member of the Methodist church her entire life.

Gail is survived by her son Allen (Cindy), her two grandsons Matthew (Rachel) and Andrew (Emily) one great-grandson, Jeffrey Edward Sandlin, and her three siblings: Liz Clark of Priceville, Sylvia Kamp of Brandon, Florida, and Charles Adcock of Panama City, Florida.
