George H. Ake, was the son of John W. (Sr.) and Nancy Brooks Ake. He married Amanda Angeline Yoman on July 4th 1874. Amanda died April 28, 1894 in Brown County, Texas and was buried in a rural cemetery there. George and Amanda had nine children. On October 4th, 1896, in Mason County, Texas, George married Jemima Emeline "Emma" Butts Collins, widow of Isaac Newton Collins. Emma died June 15, 1934 at Doole, McCulloch County, Texas, and was buried in the Stacy Cemetery. George and Emma had five children.
In 1869 or 1870, George and others trailed and fought with the Indians that had massacred 18 Immigrants at "Soldiers Waterhole" in McCulloch County, Texas. He also served in Capitain Dan Will's Company of Texas Volunteers, in McCulloch County, for frontier protection.
