Mr. Ira Edward Aaron, age 87, of Lyons, died Monday, November 16, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness. He was a native of Ware County and had lived in Toombs County since 1948. He retired in 1984 from Associated Petroleum Carrier (APC) in Savannah. He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Aaron leaves his wife of 57 years, Jeanette Mason Aaron of Lyons; sons Marcus and wife Annette Aaron and Mitchell Aaron of Lyons; brothers Ezra and wife Dot Aaron of Lyons, and Earl Aaron of Panama City, Florida; five grandchildren, Tabbatha and husband Wayne Faircloth of Lyons, Kristy and husband Dean Furr of Johnson's Corner, Fran Aaron of Lyons, and Jessica Berry and Zachary Kelly of Metter, twelve great-grandchildren, Kali Hodges, Kolby Hulett, Jacob Faircloth, Westley, Michael, and Ariana, Kelsey, Paige and Russ Furr, Topanga and Yasmine Berry, and Connor Oliver; several nieces, nephews; and lifelong friend Joseph "Dick" Stanfield of Daisy.

Honoring his request, his body was donated to the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.
