Mary C. Wakeman, 82, of Manchester, died April 16, 2003, at Hillsborough County Health Care Center. She was born July 29, 1920, in Manchester, the daughter of Charles and Bernice (Rice) Crossett and had been a lifelong resident of this community.

Mrs. Wakeman was a longtime active member of Faith Baptist Church in Manchester.

Her husband of 60 years, Paul H. Wakeman, died in March.

Family members include five sons, David L. Wakeman, Paul Douglas Wakeman, Philip C. Wakeman, and Peter A. Wakeman, all of Manchester, and Kenneth J. Wakeman of Barrington; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters Carolyn Harris of Manchester and Edith Rieger of Ohio; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cate & Johnson Funeral Home, 573 Pine St., corner of Harrison Street, in Manchester. The funeral is Saturday at 10 a.m. in Faith Baptist Church, 53 Mammoth Road, Manchester. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Manchester.
