He was born Oct. 2, 1930 in Smithfield, Utah to Joseph William Weeks and
Rose Anna Seamons Weeks. He married Diane Bullen on April 24, 1951 in Pocatello, Idaho. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on Sept. 18, 1953.
He is survived by his wife, Diane, and 6 children; Cheryl (Terry) Peterson, Smithfield; Denise (Richard) Warren, Smithfield; Patty (Randy) Kummer, Pleasant Grove; Billie Jo (Reg) Ecker, Salt Lake City; Scott (Michelle) Weeks, Smithfield;
Dodi (Dave) Laraway, Hamilton, Montana. Dale was also blessed with 28 grandchildren
and 5 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by one brother, Randall Pilkington, Shelly, Idaho, and by his best friend, Budd Pitcher. He was preceded in death by his
parents, 5 brothers, a daughter (Barbara), and a son (Jody Ryan) and Son-in-law, Val "Bugs" Ballard.
Dale attended Smithfield Elementary School, 1st –6th grades, Smithfield Junior High, 7th-9th grades, and North Cache High School, Richmond, Utah, 10th-12th grades. He enlisted in U.S. Air Force for 4 years and served 1 year in Korea. He was released with the rank of Staff Sgt. and served as a Radar Operator. After attending USU for 1 year, he worked as a trapper for the Utah Fish and Game and lived at the Hardware Ranch.
He drove truck for Cache Valley Dairy and E.A. Miller, worked for UDOT in Logan Canyon and Cache Junction, worked for Smithfield City Road Dept., and Cache County School District Maintenance Dept. He shod horses for most of his life and had many part time jobs. He served as a volunteer for the Smithfiled Fire Department for about 32 years, and as assistant Cache County Fire Chief for several years.
He enjoyed such interests as cutter racing, hunting, fishing with friends, polled Hereford cattle, golfing and being up Dry Canyon. He loved to play tricks and tease. He was full of interesting quotes. His family was most important to him and he loved each one of us very much.
Funeral services held at Noon, Tuesday, March 4, 2003, in the Smithfield 1st-2nd
Ward Chapel, 179 So. 100 W., Smithfield, with Bishop Jeffry Gittins conducting. The viewing and calling hours were from 1 pm-8 pm on Monday at Allen-Cranney Mortuary, North Logan, and at the Church on Tuesday from 10:00 to11:45 A.M. prior to services.
