Edna was born on Sept. 18, 1928, in Tazewell County to Warren C. and Mary E. (Bennett) Morrison. She married Jack J. McMakin on April 15, 1954, in Tremont, Ill. He died on Jan. 16, 2006.
Also preceding in death are one daughter, Susan Visel; one brother, Joseph C. Morrison; and two sisters, Leona M. Peiper and Zelma F. Short.
Surviving are one daughter, Marilyn (and Gary) Hilsenhoff of Mackinaw, Ill.; one son, Jack J. (and Jane) McMakin II of Altamonte, Springs, Fla.; one son-in-law, James Visel of Urbana, Ill.; two sisters, Helen E. Garner of Springfield, Ill., and Linda K. Kirby of Middletown, Ill.; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; one great-grandson; and stepgreat-grandchildren.
Edna was a former beauty operator.
She and her husband, Jack, owned the 121 Club in Tremont during the 1960s and the North Side Tap in Tremont before retiring.
She was a former volunteer EMT with Tremont Rescue 702.
She was a member of the Pekin First Church of God, American Legion Auxiliary in Tremont, and the VFW Auxiliary in Pekin. She also was a member of the Tremont
Historical Society.
