Abilene - C. M. (Ike) Tyler, 100 years old, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at an Abilene medical center.

The memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Broadview Baptist Church officiated by Rev. David Cason. Interment of his cremains will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Cedar Hill Cemetery directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Born in Bangs, Texas on November 4, 1907, Ike was the son of Sallie (Fredonia (Rozell) and Sam Tyler. He married Alice Swenson in Abilene on August 12, 1932. In 1965, Ike moved from Sweetwater to Abilene, where he worked several years as an equipment operator and carpenter for Abilene Christian University.

Mr. Tyler was a member of Broadview Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice Tyler (d.2001); and one son, Clarence Jr.

Survivors include sons, Peter Wayne Tyler of Midland, Michigan, and J. B. Tyler of Abilene; daughters, Bertha Suiter of Abilene and Mary Elizabeth Black of Fort Worth; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
