Melba McClurkin Henderson Wadsworth, 82, a resident of the Solon Nursing Care Center, died there Saturday after a long illness. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Solon United Methodist Church. Burial: Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brosh Funeral Home, Solon, and noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Survivors include a son, Bob Henderson of Des Moines; three stepsons, Bill of Fairview, Donald of Clarence and Ken of Houston, Texas; and two stepdaughters, Marjorie Gaines of Mount Vernon and Lois Hart of Viola. Also surviving are a grandchild, Laura Henderson Hofer of Pensacola, Fla.; 22 stepgrandchildren; a great-grandchild, Robert Hofer; and several stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a stepson, Marvin Henderson. Born July 4, 1909, in Morning Sun, she married Howard Henderson on Sept. 6, 1941. He died in 1968. She then married Vern Wadsworth in August 1973. He died in 1979. Before her retirement in 1974, she worked for Wilson & Co. She was a member of Solon United Methodist Church, Solon American Legion Auxiliary and Johnson County Senior Citizen Center. She was a graduate of Cedar Rapids Business College. The casket will be open at all times. The Rev. Douglas Peters will officiate. A memorial fund has been established.
