Mr. Balsamo, 90 of Columbus died Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital. He was born December 24, 1932, in Oyster Bay, New York, son of Teresa and Salvatore Balsamo. Mr. Balsamo served his country as an enlisted Army Soldier and attained the rank of Sergeant First Class (SFC). His service in the United States Army included assignment to Berlin Germany during the Cold War, in the Vietnam War, and in support of the U.N. effort in the post Korean War. He retired from the Army in 1973 and ended his working career as a retired Civil Servant at Fort Benning. He was preceded in death by his wife Eleonore G, Balsamo and his son Harold H. Balsamo.
Survivors include his son, Sal Balsamo of Columbus, GA; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Balsamo; Grandson Jonathan Balsamo (Lisa), Granddaughter Jennifer Balas (Christopher), Great Grandchildren Maddox, Jake, Sabrina, and Weston Balsamo; Jada Balas.
