Carrie Ellan Newell was born the fourth child to Claude Burl Newell and Mary Lewgene Hulda Bittick. She was their only daughter. Carrie was born in Boise, Idaho at St. Lukes Hospital at 8:16 a.m. She weighed 8 lbs. 5 oz.
Carrie was raised in Sweet, Idaho and attended high school in Emmett. She joined Job Core in Oregon and completed all courses when she was 17 years old.
Carrie had one daughter, Miranda "Mandi" Newell in September of 1984. They lived in Boise and Sweet for most of Mandi's childhood. When Carrie lived in Sweet, she lived right next door to her parents, they helped her raise Mandi, both of her parents playing a large part in both of their lives.
She was a pet lover, she loved her many dogs, to name a few, Turbo, Tanga (Tangarine), Teddy Bear, Turk and Tulla. She loved to come home and just love on them. They were always so happy when she was home.
Carrie met the love of her life Robin Keeney in the early to mid 1990's. They were married on May 31, 2008, in Meridian. Carrie and Robin lived in Sweet for many years before moving to Boise. They lived in Boise for a few years and moved to Ontario, Oregon where Carrie passed away.
On May 19, 2023, Carrie lost her battle against cancer at home surrounded by her family. Which is exactly what she wanted.
Carrie is survived by her husband, Robin; her daughter Mandi; four grandchildren, Jaymos, Cairah, Devenn & Kobynn; by her two brothers, Dave and Blake Newell and their families; and by many friends and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Gene Newell and by a brother, Douglas who passed away in infancy.
I have so many memories with Carrie, from "Stuff", making homemade ice cream with snow, to making her first smore with her, Mandi and Robin. Carrie was such a big part of my life; I could never thank her enough for the love she has shown me unconditionally. If it wasn't for her, I truly wouldn't be here today, quite literally. She is the reason my parents met.
We all know Carrie to be so full of life, she enjoyed every moment that she got with her loved ones. Especially babies and her grandchildren. We all know how strong Carrie was, she never ceased to put a smile on her face when someone walked in a room, no matter what she was going through, her smile was so contagious, you couldn't help but smile back. Carrie brought joy into so many people's lives, her light and love will be missed by every single one of us that crossed life paths with her.
