J.T. Cryer

J.T. Cryer was born May 24, 1923, southeast of Boise City, Oklahoma, to the late Jim and Amelia Cryer. He entered into etermal rest on March 18, 2008 in Elkhart, Kansas, at the age of 84 years.

J.T. grew up southeast of Boise City. When he was young, he worked as a cowboy on the Perkins Ranch and then on the T.L. Brooks Ranch. J.T. started raising his own cattle.

On August 9, 1947, J.T. Cryer was united in marriage to Opal Dougherty. To this union two sons were born, Don and Roger.

J.T. and Opal raised cattle for more than 60 years. J.T. and Opal enjoyed watching their boy's grow up and their grandchildren.

J.T. was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Amelia Cryer, and one sister Margie Sloan.

Survivors include: his wife, Opal Cryer, Boise City, Oklahoma, two son's Don Cryer and wife Gayla, Boise City, Oklahoma and Roger Cryer, Boise City, Oklahoma, four brothers, Ray Plummer, Marble Hill, Missouri, Marvin Cryer and wife Bonnie, Texhoma, Oklahoma, Melvin Cryer, Felt, Oklahoma and Vernon Cryer and wife Alma Jean, Wheeless, Oklahoma, 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be Monday March 24, 2008 at 10:30am at the Boise City Cemetery, Boise City, Oklahoma with Wendell Cayton and Monte Cryer officiating. The family has suggested memorials to the Morton County Care Center, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be left in care of the mortuary.
