Margie Sue Steely was born in Corbin, Kentucky, the fourth child to Ray and Myrtle Bryant. She passed away peacefully at her home in Plano on February 2, 2022 at the age of 83.
Margie graduated high school in Corbin, Kentucky, and married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Steely on August 3, 1958. The couple eventually settled in Austin, Texas, where they raised their two daughters. She and Tom enjoyed playing contract bridge and entertaining with neighbors and friends. They also enjoyed vacations and traveling with their siblings. These trips provided many hours of fun planning and sharing great adventures together.
One of Margie's greatest loves was for her grandchildren. They all have many fond memories of opening presents on Christmas morning and coloring eggs every Easter at grandmother's house. Margie was a devoted wife and loving homemaker during their years in Austin. She and Tom shared various hobbies and businesses together including collecting and selling antique glass, investing in real estate, and even selling items on eBay. Later, as her daughters married and started families of their own, Tom and Margie moved to Murphy, Texas, to be nearer their family. She had a generous spirit and will be missed by us all. It gives us great comfort to know that she is rejoicing in the arms of Jesus.
Margie is survived by a brother, Vernon Bryant and wife, Billie of Ohio; daughters, Ronda Steely Rehn and husband, Larry Rehn and Marla Sue Steely Latvatalo and husband, John Latvatalo; grandchildren, John Warren Latvatalo and wife, Anne Marie, Jessica Wilmot and husband, Freddie, Calvin Rehn, Joshua Latvatalo, and Cooper Rehn and wife, Allison, all of whom live in the Dallas, Texas area. She also has many beloved nieces and nephews.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Thomas Steely and siblings, Mildred Jane Foxx and Earl Rondall Bryant.
A private graveside memorial service will be held for immediate family on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Margie Steely may be made to the American Heart Association.
