John Wesly Rorrer enlisted in Company H 51st Infantry Regiment Virginia on January 1,1862 for the duration of the war. He was captured in Waynesboro, Viginia while serving with General Jubal Early on March 2, 1865 and sent to Fort Deleware Federal Prison and received there on March 12, 1865, and died there of disease, listed as inflammation of lungs April 3, 1865.
There is also a monument for him in the Rorrer Cemetery on the McKenzie Farm in Patrick County, VA.
