JANIE JOYCE (GARNER) TROUTMAN
1928-2008


Janie Troutman passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, evening, March 16, at 9:00 PM at Covenant Hospice of West Florida Hospital with her daughters Linda and Judy, son Roger and dear family friend Amy Cordray, by her side.
She was born in Tuckerman, Arkansas on December 6, 1928 to parents Henry and Verna Douglas.
Janie was married to the former Rev. Wilson Garner, of First Missionary Baptist Church in Pensacola and was a faithful and true servant by his side for 25 years until his death on March 14, 1970.
After being a widow for many years, Janie met the most wonderful friend and love of her life, Clyde Ellis Troutman. Their life has truly been a beautiful love story. They were married September 4, 1990.
Janie was President of the Ladies Auxiliary group of the American Baptist Association from 1967-1969. She was also a Sunday School teacher of young people for 22 years.
She was employed in school food service at Pensacola Christian Academy, West Pensacola Elementary School and Allie Yniestra Elementary School for many years.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Verna Douglas; sister, Dean Hammock; and son-in-law, and Robert Hawthorn.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde Troutman; daughter, Linda Guernsey (Ed); daughter, Judy Hawthorn; son, Roger Garner (Joann) of Houston, TX; sister, Wilma Leonard of Damascus, AK; brother, Henry Douglas of Newport, AK; sister, Helen Sharp (Bo) of Newport, AK; vie grandchildren, Kelly Lewis (Matt), of San Diego, CA, Douglas Guernsey (Sherri) of Pensacola, FL, USMC Sgt Sam Galan (Staci) of Oceanside, CA, Allen Harrison (Jolene) of Houston, TX, Rachel Hawthorn of Houston, TX; great grandchildren, Caleb Guernsey, Noah Guernsey, Jonah Guernsey of Pensacola, FL, and Maddie Galan of Oceanside, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express a very special appreciation to the staff at Covenant Hospice of West Florida Hospital for providing mother with loving care and compassion during her final days. A very special thank you with love to Jane, Chrissie and Pat who were with mother right to the end.
The family will receive friends at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008 in the Chapel at First Baptist Church of Pensacola.
Pallbearers will be Glen Monk, Clint Guernsey, Doug Guernsey, Dr. Bob Wilson, Bill Garner and Robin Snow.
Interment will follow in Bayview Memorial Park in Pensacola.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the music library at First Baptist Church, 500 Palafox Street, Pensacola, Florida 32501 and Covenenant Hospice, 5041 N. 12th Avenue, Pensacola, Florida 32504.
