Longtime Sharon Springs, KS resident, Maynard Lester Giersdorf, 88, passed away Saturday, April 8th, 2023 at Greeley County Long Term Care in Tribune, KS. He was born on October 15, 1934 in Spalding, NE to Lester and Lilly (Buhlman) Giersdorf.

He grew up in Grand Island, NE where he attended school. As a young adult, he enjoyed racing motorcycles on dirt roads, highways, and even on railroad tracks where he won many trophies.

On December 19, 1968, Maynard and Frances Darlene Bielser were married in Sharon Springs, KS. Together, they raised four children. They were active members at The Elk's in Goodland, KS and shared many excursions and travel adventures with their children.

Maynard was very passionate about agriculture and people. He was a well-known fertilizer salesman for over 50 years where he had many loyal customers. He also enjoyed raising cattle, hogs, and his own wheat crop. When he wasn't working, a few of his favorite pastimes were hunting, camping, boating, and spending time with his grandkids.

Preceding him in death is his wife, Darlene on April 13, 2007, his parents, and his sister Laura.
