Pearl S. Petrow, age 86, of Bridgeport, CT, beloved wife of Louis H. Petrow, died at St. Vincent Medical Center, Bridgeport. Pearl was born and raised in Dixon City, PA with 8 other siblings. She moved to the New York City area for better paying job opportunities. A short time later she moved to Connecticut where she remained for the rest of her life. Being a social person with a great sense of humor, she had no trouble making lots of friends and eventually meeting the love of her life one Sunday morning in church. Louis and Pearl were married on August 2, 1946. Pearl stayed home, raised her two children, and participated in many organizations such as PTA and Council of Catholic Women, then later dabbled in politics. She was a great friend and adviser to her children's friends. She loved having her nieces and nephews visit with her and share their stories, especially, Penny, Nancy and Donald. You could always count on jokes and laughter from her. She made people see the lighter side of life. Playing pinochle on Friday nights was her delight, as well as going to the horse races, bingo, and Jai Alai. Her husband took care of her until he became ill. When he recently came home from the hospital for Hospice care, she took his hand in hers, spoke something softly to him and then gently kissed him on the mouth. It was her last tender moment with him. Pearl is predeceased by her siblings, Anthony, Stanley, Joseph, Frank, Helen and Vicky. She has two remaining sisters, Stella and Eleanor. She is survived by two beloved children and their spouses, Ronald Petrow and his wife, Laura Gates of Stratford, CT and Theresa Barry and her husband, John, of Orange, CT; two loving grandchildren, Ian Petrow and Meghan Barry; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Bridgeport.
