He played in the Montevallo High School band, attended the Methodist Church, and worked at the soda fountain in a Montevallo drug store. He lived in the area until he joined the U.S. Army. After serving in several locations including the Far East, he returned home to complete a degree from the University of Montevallo. After teaching high school English in Georgia, he moved to teaching communication skills courses in Alabama, Georgia, and Texas. He met Gail Wathen while teaching for CDC in Atlanta, married her, and moved to Georgia for the rest of his life. They settled in Buford and made Sugar Hill United Methodist their church. His master's degree led him to a counseling career largely in the Atlanta area. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ursrie G Grady and Ruby M Alexander Grady; and wife, Gail Wathen Grady. Surviving are his sisters, Barbara Jean Grady Holt and Peggy June Grady Smith; nephews, Gregory Preston Smith, Christopher Neal Smith, and Clif Clark; and nieces, Caryn Joanna Holt Corte, and Twana Clark Skrobot.
