Beers & Co., 1880, p. 851, he is described as follows: "(Benjamin) lived life of scrupulous fidelity to every conscious duty a man of judgment to decide and perseverance to perform, one of nature's nobleman, who left the indelible stamp of his opinion on those who knew him; he was decided, yet, unassuming, modest, yet perfectly balanced, his thoughts, his deeds, his actions, were his own, formed from the feeling of his heart alone."

"In gratitude for each and all the blessings of life and thankful to my Heavenly Father for a sound and disposing mind and many spiritual and precious gifts I (Benjamin H. Pearson) do make and publish this my last will and testament. Item 1st I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Dorcas Pearson should she survive me my home farm, being the farm situated in the west 1/2 of section...Miami county this during her natural life and after her death the same to descend in equal shares to my children or their heirs...including the heirs of William S. Pearson. Item 2d I give and bequeath to my children or their heirs the residue of all my real and personal estate in equal share to them except the children of my son, Wm S. Pearson deceased who together shall take the share that he would have been entitled...Item 3d I do appoint Eli O. Macy my son-in-law and Henry Pearson my son to be the executors of my will and testament...In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this 17th day of March A.D. 1873. Benjamin H. Pearson"
