Enlisted as Private in Company E, Virginia 36th Infantry Regiment on September 26, 1864. He was captured at Waynesboro on March 2, 1865, and received from there at Fort Delaware on March 2, 1865. He was admitted to hospital March 15, 1865, and died on April 2, 1865, of inflammation of the lungs, as a Prisoner of War at Fort Delaware.
