Roy Douglas Whitaker, 74, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on May 06, 2023 at his home. He was born in Cleveland County, NC, son of the late Walter and Margaret Carpenter Whitaker and was preceded in death by all seven of his brothers and sisters. Roy served the United States honorably in the US Navy. He was a longtime member of First Wesleyan Church where he served as the Vice Chair of the LBA and faithfully worked in the children's ministry, where he was affectionately known as "Mr. Roy". He worked in the trucking industry for over 30 years, retiring from ABF Trucking. Always active, Roy enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and being on his tractor. He loved working the land and raising his livestock. Roy enjoyed basketball and was an avid runner, competing in numerous marathons over the years. Everything Roy did, he did with his whole heart. He was a dedicated husband, loving father, and adoring grandfather. His guidance, spirit, and love will be cherished by all those left to remember Roy.

Daughters: Angie Jessup and husband Ronnie and Anita Ladd and husband Kevin, both of Kings Mountain, NC
Grandchildren: Parker and Peyton Ladd, Riley Jessup, and Vangie Randall
Mother-in-law: Sue Davis, Kings Mountain, NC
