91, affectionately known as "Mrs. Melody" for her founding of the Sacred Melody Shop and Bookstore in Syracuse in the mid-fifties, passed away on Palm Sunday at Iroquois Nursing Home. Charlotte was born October 4, 1916, in Cortland, NY, daughter of Willis and Susie Smith. She worked in the bookstore in Syracuse for 35 years, retiring in 1991. After that, she spent time living in Florida and traveling with her husband, Wesley, to mission fields of the Free Methodist Church around the world. She was a co-owner and director of Manth-Brownell Inc. in Kirkville, NY. She and her husband established a chair for research on amyloid disease at Boston University School of Medicine. She was a lifelong member of the Free Methodist Church and active in the Syracuse and Chittenango churches, where she was a leader in programs for women and children. She also loved telling jokes and playing games with her grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her sweet, sweet spirit. Her husband of 66 years predeceased her by five years. Since that time, she had lived in the Syracuse area near her sons, John W. (Kim) Skinner and Wesley R. (Barbara) Skinner. Her daughter, Martha (Sumner) Skinner Stone, is from Boston. She also had seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, the youngest of whom is named Charlotte. Funeral Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Newell-Fay Funeral Home
