David Rowe was born in about 1811 in Virginia (in the 1850 U.S. census he lists his place of birth as Virginia). He was the son of James Rowe Jr and Sophia Huffman. They were married in Botetourt County, Virginia in 1799 and this is likely where they resided when David was born. In the early 1800s James Rowe Jr and his family, as well as his father, most of his siblings ,and their families, all moved west across the mountians to eastern Kentucky, settling in Pike County, and some later in Morgan County.
On April 24, 1835 in Morgan County, Kentucky David Rowe married Cynthia Adkins Belcher. Together they had 6 children :
* Rosannah (Rowe) Adkins
* Timothy Rowe
* Martha Ann (Rowe) Gilliam
* Sidney Ann (Rowe) Gray
* Lorenzo Dow Rowe
* Jesse Rowe
David and his wife both passed away some time after the 1880 U.S. census was recorded in Elliott County, Kentucky. They no longer appear in any documents after this point. His place of burial is currently unknown, but likely to be in the vicinity of the familys old homestead in the Newfoundland (Crackersneck) area of Elliott County.
