Born March 12, 1980 in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of Robert L. and Judy D. Dubbs Hess of Shippensburg.
He attended Prince Street United Brethren Church in Shippensburg.
In 1998, he graduated from Shippensburg Area Senior High School.
He was a paid emergency medical technician and firefighter for Fannett-Metal Fire and Ambulance Company #12, Dry Run, Pa.
A member and lieutenant at West End Fire and Rescue Company #15, Shippensburg, he also was a member of Fannett-Metal Fire and Ambulance Company #12 and Fannett-Metal Rod and Gun Club.
An avid hunter, he also enjoyed four-wheeling and working on his trucks.
In addion to his parents, surviving are a sister, Christina R. Hoover; his maternal grandmother, Christina G. Dubbs; his paternal grandmother, Melba R. Hess and his girlfriend, Deanna E. Rohr, all of Shippensburg.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Roy C. Dubbs and his paternal grandfather, Charles (Chink) Hess.
