Billy Joe "B.J." Christain, 69, of Baxter died on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at University Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Des Moines. Memorial service and lunch at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

B.J., the son of Russell and Ruth (Mercer) Christain, was born on October 27, 1949 in Dexter, Iowa. He attended and graduated from schools in Collins and Maxwell. B.J. served his country in the U.S. Navy. As an adult, B.J. lived in Collins and later in Baxter and worked in hospital equipment repair. He was a long-standing member of the Hardcore Campers and enjoyed spending time outdoors. B.J. also loved music and was known as "the life of the party."

B.J. is survived by his children, Heather Christain of Phoenix, Joshua Christain (Margaret Henderson) of Iowa City, and Lucas (Heather) Christain of Evanston; step-son, Bill Iverson (Jesse) of Newton; grandchildren, Armand Christain, Tate and Wyatt Christain, Tayler, Aliza, and Nora Iverson; his siblings, Beverly (Robert) Newmire of Branson, Sandy (Don) Baldwin-Lyons of Boone, John (Colleen) Christain.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Shirley Christain.
