DeMar Parkinson Allred 1915 ~ 2006 Our loving husband, father, and grandfather, DeMar Parkinson Allred, 91, passed peacefully from this life September 17th due to complications from a stroke. He was surrounded by loving family members, leaving this life as he lived it - with love and concern for those he cherished whom he was leaving behind. Grandpa was born April 14, 1915 in Logan, Utah to Lothair and Charlotte Parkinson Allred. The first of five children, he spent his early childhood on his beloved ranch in Blackfoot, Idaho. The family then relocated to Salt Lake City, where he was sealed to his childhood sweetheart, Betty Ruth Jenkinson, in the Salt Lake Temple September 30, 1935. Thus began a beautiful, sacred, eternal companionship that has been a guiding light for all of us to follow and that will bless our family for generations to come. Grandma preceded him death November 24, 2000. Now gloriously reunited with his sweetheart, only tears of happiness should be shed. G! randpa worked in Salt Lake City in the financial industry until his retirement in 1981. He is a shining example of someone who loved life and all it had to offer. He won many awards as an accomplished archer; held a season golf pass every year and made five holes-in-one after he was 80 years old. A true cowboy at heart, he was blessed with the companionship of many wonderful horses throughout his life. He was a true patriotic American and loved by all who knew him. Of all of the things that grandpa loved, most important were the gospel of Jesus Christ and his family. Grandpa had a deep and abiding love for the Savior and His Gospel. His countenance beamed with faith, love, and kindness that few possess. He loved to teach the gospel and spoke with clarity and knowledge through the power of his priesthood which he honored throughout his life. Sought out for advice by his family and friends, his comforting presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Grandpa is survi! ved by his two daughters, Sue (Dr. John McDonald) and Judy (Dennis Eng h); 12 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; one sister; one sister-in-law; and two brothers-in-law. Grandpa was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife, two sisters, one brother, and two grandchildren. We are in awe of grandpa's capacity for love and total unselfishness and his marvelous gift of making you feel like you are the most important person in the world to him, and you are. Funeral services will be Tues, September 19, 2006, Holladay LDS 3rd Ward, 4568 Holladay Blvd, with a viewing between 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. and funeral services at 1 p.m. We wish to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Care Source Hospice for the loving, compassionate care given to him in his last days.
