She was baptized at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in rural Humphrey. Agnes attended grade school at St. Mary's. She graduated from St. Frances High School in Humphrey. She married Melvin M. Michaelsen on January 15, 1935. They resided in rural Platte County until retirement and then moved to Columbus. Mrs. Michaelsen was a homemaker and involved in church and civic activities. She was an artist and studied under numerous art instructors and at Platte College.
Agnes is survived by seven children: Patrick of Denver, CO, Jacqueline (Mrs. Louis) Sojka, of Elkhorn, NE, Jerome (Marilou Pieters) of Columbus, NE, Peggy (Mrs. Jan) Wine of Maui, HI, Timothy (Kathy) of Columbus, NE, Pamela (Mrs. Keith) Baumert of Omaha, NE and Shelly (Mrs. John) Adcox of Lincoln, NE. One sister, Theresa Mrzlak of Redondo Beach, CA. Also surviving are twenty three grandchildren, thirty six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin, daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Larry Liss, grandson, David Michaelsen, one brother, Aloys German, four sisters, Apollonia Goeckel, Elizabeth Polt, Cecelia Polt, and Mary Martischang.
