Gertrude W. Carbaugh, 97, of Chambersburg, Pa., passed away September 26, 1981 in her home. She was seriously ill for two weeks.
Born September 15, 1884 in Horse Valley, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Philip and Lilly Hardy Wright. Her husband, Emory C. Carbaugh, passed away January 12, 1942.
Mrs. Carbaugh was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Chambersburg.
She is survived by six daughters. Dorothy C. Rosser, Shippensburg, Pa., Edna Harris, Scranton, Pa., Gladys C. Coyle, Ruth Capazo and Grace Ferraro, all of Chambersburg, Edith Griff, Dalton; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ora Longley, Vera Horn and Hazel Rife, all of Upper Strasburg, Pa., Alice Geyer, Chambersburg, Pa., and a number of nieces and nephews.

note: her daughter Edna Mae Carbaugh Harris (Mrs. Thomas Harris), died in Scranton on April 30 2004. The obituary stated that interment was private.
