Jeannette Elaine Baker, 94, of Greeley passed away at home March 27, 2022. Mrs. Baker was born August 11, 1927 to Inez (Munkvold) Vedin in Yankton County, S.D. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Baker in 2000, her brother Ronald Vedin in 2010, and a daughter, Deborah Jo Baker in 2020. The Baker family moved to Greeley in 1962. Jeannette was mother to three more daughters, Jacque Wiegel (Don), Suzanne Baker (Albert Hattem), and Sherry Baker (Martin Hamilton). Also surviving are grandchildren Christopher Bopp (Hollie), James Wiegel, Jennifer Shurley, Rebecca Dethman (John), Brita Perry (Joe), Tiffany Ives (Derek), 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Jean loved counted cross stitch, crocheting, reading, and listening to books on tape. She was a wonderful listener and visited daily with her daughters, granddaughter Brita and grandson Ethan. Jeannette owned the Country Woodshop, a quilt shop originally named for her husband's furniture shop, on East 18th Street in Greeley. She also worked with her daughter Sherry at Country Crafts needlework shop into her 90s. Pets were also a big part of her life, as the Baker family loved dogs, cats, rabbits, and birds. When she passed, Jean left behind her dog, Tipper. Jean and Ed's marriage was filled with love and respect for each other and for everyone they came in contact with. We have all been blessed to have had her in our lives. A family graveside service was held April 18 at Lynn Grove Cemetery in Greeley, where she was inurned with her husband Ed and daughter Debbie.
