Son of Willie Newt Martin and Sarah Levada (Vada) Falkner. Husband of Doris Cooper, Eunice Taylor and Mary Lou Martin. Jake had the following children: Eddie, Terry, Carolyn, Kathy and Hank. Jake served as a tank driver for the 771st Tank Battalion in the European Theater during World War II. He was awarded a Purple Heart.

Jake Martin, 71, of Port Isabel and lifetime member of the Disabled Veterans of America, died July 15, 1991.
He was born September 12, 1919 in Farmerville, Louisiana. He was a decorated WWII Army disabled veteran, member of the American Legion, Post 498 in Port Isabel and Master Mason, St. Joseph-Tensas Lodge Number 309 in St. Joseph, Louisiana.
He is survived by his wife Mary Lou Martin of Port Isabel, three sons, Eddie Martin of Bayview, TX, Terry and Hank Jake Martin, also of Port Isabel; two daughters, Carolyn Boies of Beeville, TX and Kathy Tomecek of Hewitt, TX. He also left behind eight grandchildren, Newton and Scott Martin; Shelley, Amber, Joshua, and Andrew Boies; and Lisa and John Tomecek. He has one brother, Isaac M. Martin, and one sister, Nora E. Williams, both of Minden, Louisiana. He was expecting the arrival of his first great grandchild in September.
He was preceded in death by his father Willie Newt Martin, his mother Sarah Levada Martin, and a brother Willard Martin.

Port Isabel - Graveside service for Jake Martin, 71, who died Monday, will be conducted 2 p.m. today by Rev. Tom Cole in Mont Meta Memorial Park. Military rites will be conducted by V. F. W. Post No. 205.
He was born Sept. 12, 1919 at Farmerville, LA. and was a decorated disabled veteran of World War II, U.S. Army. He was a life member of the Disabled Veterans of America, member of American Legion Post No. 498 of Port Isabel and a Master Mason, St. Joseph-Tensas Lodge No. 309 in St. Joseph, LA.
Survivors are his wife, Mary Lou Martin of Port Isabel; three sons, Eddie Martin of Bayview, Terry Martin and Hank Jake Martin, both of Port Isabel; two daughters, Carolyn Boies of Beeville and Kathy Tomecek of Hewitt; a brother Isaac M. Martin; a sister Nora E. Williams, both of Minden, LA; and eight grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a brother, Willard Martin.
Pallbearers will be Robert Tomecek, Ralph Boies, James Wheeler, Ray Traskauskas, Ron Vera and Charlie Sherrick.
